How to Access a Family Doctor in Fort St. John

Having your own Family Doctor is good for your health!

Developing a relationship with your Family Doctor provides an opportunity for better health in the long run. Family Doctors advocate for you and work with specialists and other healthcare professionals to get you the right care at the right time by the right person. They also work with you to prevent illness and promote healthy living.

Need care but it’s safe to wait?

Call your Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner first

Your Primary Care Provider knows knows you the best, always try and make an appointment with your Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner first.
If you don’t have a Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, go to Healthlink BC or call 8-1-1 to register. You will be added to a waitlist and contacted by the North Peace Division of Family Practice when a clinic is accepting new patients. You may want to consider using the Northern Health Virtual Care Line until you are placed with a Family Doctor.

Need care today?

Call your Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner for a same day appointment

Each clinic has time allocated for same day appointments when patients need to be seen right away.
If a same day appointment is not available with your Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, or you do not have a Family Doctor, call the Northern Health Virtual Clinic to get a virtual appointment: 1-844-645-7811.

Need care after hours?

If you need care and your Family Doctor’s office is closed, or you do not have a Family Doctor

Call 8-1-1 for health advice 24/7 or;
